Wake Island 1965

I joined the Coast Guard in 1962 and was trained as an electronics technician.  My second posting was to the Wake Island Loran station where we transmitted navigational signals.  This system was a forerunner of GPS.  I found out about a sunken sailing dinghy out in the lagoon and with some help managed to get it to shore and overhaul it.  Sailing in this lagoon was great training with strong tradewinds and plenty of coral heads to avoid.
