South Pacific 1975-1976

After leaving Pago Pago we sailed to Tonga for a few weeks and then on to Fiji where we stayed for four months.  We then sailed to New Zealand to avoid the cyclone season.  I worked  there for six months at an unfinished marina which provided me with a free berth.  Around Easter 1976 we set sail for Rarotonga and experienced some of what the Southern Ocean is famous for.  One of the yachts that left at the same time experienced a 360 degree roll but survived okay.

Borabora, last stop before Hawaii.

After a few weeks in Rarotonga we sailed for Tahiti where we spent about four months sailing between the stunning islands there.  Money was getting low so we sailed off again to Hilo, Hawaii.  I worked in Honolulu at a boatyard for a year.
