Arrived in Pago Pago, American Samoa after a stop at Fanning Atoll about halfway there. Myself and my one crew member stayed for a year. I had a job with a surveying business and had a busy social life with all the other cruisers staying there.
One of the crew members from another boat told me how much he wanted his own cruising boat. I volunteered to design it and he and some of his friends would build it. I drew up a 27' plywood hull that we could build with available materials. He and his partner then circled through eastern Polynesia, New Zealand, Micronesia, Japan and Alaska where he traded it for a cabin.
